Vapor Barrier for Crawl Spaces
Is it really necessary to install a vapor barrier system in my crawl space to get rid of the high moisture problem? The simple answer to this question is, do I value my home or property? If the answer is yes — read on. One of the most destructive elements that can attack a home is high moisture. It creates immediate damage like, the foul air smell, growth of mold, staining of wood, rusting of nails, saturation of insulation, etc. The real
devastating troubles are the long range problems, such as, sickness from the mold, which can be very serious health wise,
sometimes it even causes death. The expense of getting rid of the mold is sometime a horrendous dollar figure. The weakening of the structure, through gradual deterioration, is always a concern when you have the rusting of metal floor joist hangers, nails, staples, metal studs or any other metal attachments. The giant devastating problem is the rotting and deterioration of your floor joist, floor and sometimes your side walls. I have seen floor joist so rotten you could knock a hole in them just about anyplace. They all had to be replaced. It also creates an environment for many different kinds of unwanted insects. You don't deserve or I'm sure want any of these problems described above, so I highly recommend you take action and get a vapor barrier system installed. The vapor barrier system we handle is from an older, well established company that has a good reputation for quality products. Our company, over the last 40 years, has worked very hard at making several quality products or handling only quality products from other companies. The reason being is our reputation is on the line which we are concerned about, as well as providing a product that will perform well and solve your problem.
Choosing the Correct Vapor Barrier
To avoid these problems choose wisely. Now the question arises, which vapor barrier do I order? For all practical purposes you would order the strongest and toughest Tu-Tuf 4. The reason is not because it costs more, but it is tougher, more rugged and resistant to punctures and tearing for the average installation. If you have a nice open area with very little chance of tearing, snagging or puncturing the vapor barrier, Tu-Tuf 3 will serve you well. Keep in mind any tear, snag or puncture will nullify the job. Many homeowners have installed their own vapor barrier system with great success and eliminated their high moisture problems. If you are unable or prefer not to do it yourself, any reputable contractor can do the job for you with assured success, that will give you the peace of mind you deserve.
Other Tu-Tuf™ Uses
